Our Top Projects of 2025: A Year of Purposeful Design That Builds Belonging
As 2025 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the projects that shaped our year and the partnerships that helped us create spaces where people feel grounded, supported, and connected. Across everything we delivered – from workplace environments to learning and therapy centers – one theme rose to the surface again and again: Belonging.
Belonging is more than a feeling. It’s something design can create. It’s the clarity you experience when a space makes sense. It’s the comfort of moving through an environment that anticipates what you need. It’s the confidence that comes from knowing you have a place within it. This year illustrated just how powerfully environments influence connection, performance, and daily experience.
Rather than dividing projects into categories like corporate or behavioral health, we approached our portfolio as one unified body of work. What we learn in highly structured therapy and learning environments strengthens how we design focused, intuitive workplaces. What we learn in workplace strategy enhances how we shape spaces for growth, care, and everyday routines. That cross-disciplinary approach continues to make our work more empathetic, more insightful, and more attuned to the people who use these spaces every day.
This year’s standout projects – Argo Insurance, TomTom, and the May School operated by the May Institute – each brought unique goals and opportunities. Yet they share a common purpose: to create environments where people feel they belong. Together, these projects demonstrate how thoughtful planning and intentional design can support clarity, comfort, performance, and community for teams, families, visitors, and the broader communities they serve.
Argo Insurance: A Workspace Designed for Focus, Flow, and Connection
The Argo Insurance project highlights how a thoughtfully planned workspace can help teams work with clarity and purpose. The design centered on creating an environment that supports focused individual work, smooth collaboration, and natural moments of connection throughout the day.
The layout balances private zones with areas that encourage teamwork, giving people the ability to move between different modes of work with ease. Workstations were positioned to reduce noise distraction, while shared spaces were arranged to support movement, quick conversations, and planned exchanges. The result is a workspace that feels both dynamic and grounded – supporting the varied needs of a modern team.
Material selections and lighting choices were made to promote comfort and consistency. Natural textures, calm tones, and clean sightlines give the space a sense of balance and familiarity, helping people settle into their work while feeling connected to the broader team.
Argo Insurance shows how design can elevate performance, improve flow, and create a workspace where people can do their best work – and feel like they belong.
TomTom: Connecting Innovation to Nature in a Modern Workspace
The TomTom project transformed the company’s North American headquarters into a workspace that brings together modern functionality, advanced technology, and the natural beauty of New England. The design drew inspiration from the region’s fall landscape, introducing deep reds, forest greens, warm browns, and tans to create a grounded, welcoming atmosphere.
A custom cork shingle wall anchors the refreshed reception area and sets the tone with craftsmanship and texture. A light-filled café opens directly onto the outdoor terrace, giving people space to gather, recharge, and move naturally between work modes.
Throughout the environment, flexible meeting and workshop rooms were equipped with consistent, user-friendly AV to support hybrid collaboration. A clear zoning strategy helps people understand how the space works: quiet areas for focus, acoustically separated collaboration zones for teamwork, and comfortable social spaces that reinforce community.
TomTom’s new headquarters illustrates how a blend of nature-inspired design, flexible work zones, and intuitive technology can create a workspace that supports innovation, strengthens culture, and gives people a place where they feel connected and included.
The May School: Creating Spaces That Support Learning, Therapy, and Growth
The work at the May School operated by the May Institute reflects a comprehensive approach to designing environments that support people, families, and staff with clarity and care. As part of the organization’s growth, the project began with helping identify the right site for the new center, followed by leading the full design and construction process from start to finish.
The project included renovating two floors and expanding the center with a ground-up addition – creating an environment that supports learning, therapy, and social interaction for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Each space was planned to support comfort, predictability, and ease of movement, helping people navigate their day with confidence.
Strategic planning guided decisions around adjacencies, circulation, and room function, ensuring the environment supports both daily programming and long-term operational needs. The design balances purposeful therapy spaces with areas for regrouping, reflection, and reset, creating a rhythm that works for both the people served and the staff who support them.
As the first in a growing portfolio of new centers, the May School establishes a strong foundation for future environments focused on consistency, quality, and belonging. The result is a center that reinforces the importance of thoughtful design in creating places where learning and care can thrive.
Looking Ahead
Argo Insurance, TomTom, and the May School represent different needs and different user groups, yet they share a common thread: each demonstrates how thoughtful design can shape daily experience in meaningful ways. Whether it’s a workspace that helps teams collaborate with clarity or a learning environment that supports growth and comfort, great design always begins with understanding the people who will use the space.
As we look toward 2026, these projects remind us why purpose-driven, people-centered design matters. Our work continues to bridge performance, creativity, care, and connection across every type of space we build. The foundation laid this year will guide the year ahead as we create more environments that help people thrive – and feel like they truly belong.
